National Poetry Month

So, I didn’t know this before… but April is National Poetry Month in the U.S. and Canada. In the UK, it’s not till October. Back in Aus…well… it’s not abundantly clear when it is. Some groups have tried to break away and do it in July or September. Other have jumped on the U.S. bandwagon under the NaPoWriMo tag. At the end of the day, I just want to be a part of it! I’m in the let’s make-it-International-Poetry-Writing-Month camp 🙂

In preparation, I’ve started following Kate Larson on twitter. She posts a #tinylittlepoem every day.

I don’t think there is a single thing I manage to do every day, and that includes waking up …

The plan is to write a poem each day. It doesn’t have to be long. Doesn’t have to be short either. I just want to experiment a little. That’s what this blog is about after all. Taking “I can’t” out of my answer book.

The NaPoWriMo website that Maureen Thorson started even comes with prompts. I’ve submitted this blog. Here goes everything 😉 Check back tomorrow for day one!
