Captain Marvel: I have nothing to prove to you

Carol Danvers. Brie Larson.

I’ve been adding to my personal hero list lately with both fictional and real life characters. Both of these incredible women are on that list in their own rights.

“I have nothing to prove to you” ~ Carol Danvers

Such a powerful statement. I’m a big Marvel fan. Have been since forever. This film and this statement just cemented MCU deeper into my heart.

(Come on DC, I love you too, but you butchered Suicide Squad and Justice League so badly that I can’t even … ugh)

Captain Marvel did not disappoint. The cast was cheeky and fun. Fury & Coulson with hair and youthful skin – um what? Larson & Law and Larson & Jackson – all the fighting, the jokes, the awkward moments. It was a real character driven piece with all the alien and CGI spectacular we’ve come to expect.

As for Brie Larson – have you seen her smile? Her muscles? She is the sweetest and the toughest. Her performance in Room back in 2015 was heart wrenching. Before that it was her performances in United States of Tara, The Spectacular Now and Scott Pilgrim vs The World that got my attention. She’s also a professional singer.

Captain Marvel began with a moving tribute to Stan Lee in the Marvel banner. It tugged every heart string. I have always loved his cameos. I’m that annoying person who yells out ah-ha every time I spot him on the screen.

Don’t forget to wait till the very end for the 2 end-credits we got treated to in this film. Though I’ll admit, they were a bit crappy compared to what I’ve come to hope for and expect.

I can’t wait for the next instalment Avengers: Endgame in April!
